Hi Roob0481,
Mintex is one of the OEMs and their replacement pads are widely available from the good independent Jag specialists at affordable prices. I've typically purchased them from Coventry West or Welsh Enterprises, but check with forum sponsors SNG Barratt and Jagbits, who offer nice discounts to forum members. You may also be able to buy Mintex pads from your local auto parts stores.
Note that since the Mintex pads are OE quality, you will get an OE level of brake dust. Some members have switched to more modern ceramic pads and report reduced dust.
My favorite pads for the XJ40 were made by the Italian company Ferodo, another Jaguar OEM, but I haven't been able to find their pads in the U.S. in many years. Their pads provided excellent stopping power, with great pedal feel and very quiet operation. Ferodo is now a part of Federal-Mogul, but whether F-M pads for the XJ40 are equal to the old Ferodos I can't say. Other OEMs for the XJ40 were Lucas and Jurid, and their pads are also good if you can find them.
I'm personally a believer in soft pads with as little metal content as possible so the pads wear at a faster rate than the rotors. The so-called "Lifetime Warranty" pads tend to be full of metal that chews up the rotors so they wear faster than the pads.
I'll look forward to reading what others have to say.
Cheers,
Don

Hi Rubin,
Please let us know which pads you choose and how you like them! The beauty of the Jaguar Forums is that we all learn from each other!
Cheers,
Don

Some insight
Well after taking my lady in to get her brake issue diagnosed, come to find out that she still has quite a bit of padding left on her brakes. However, they're already grinding and squealing, as well as wearing a groove in the rotors. The previous owner apparently chose some cheap, lower quality pads. I had the brake pad sensor examined as well, only to discover that it is chipped and most likely malfunctioning. As if my lady hasn't been neglected enough from her past owner, we discovered insult to injury. Her brake pad sensor did not have the clip used to hold it in place properly, instead the sensor was caulked in place. That's right, just slapped on there all jerry rigged. So I will be ordering a new sensor and replacing that as well as the pads, hats off to Jagbits by the way for their expedient and enthusiastic customer service on my prior order of the pads.

For my choice of brake pads I went with Jagbits Part # JLM1829-X. Unfortunately the mechanic did not fulfill the simple request I gave him to keep the box so that I remember the brand. I still need to give them some road time to test them, but so far so good. I also had the brake pad wear sensor replaced. But the "BRAKE" light continues to light up every time I press the brakes. So I guess I can add that to my troubleshoot list.
