car wouldn't start ;-(
Got stranded about 20 miles from base today ...went fishing in the ocean, parked down a country lane leading to the beach, fished all day and car refused to start after returning. Swapped the CPS, still no go, have spark at the distributor, cranked quite a while but no gas smell at all.
Suspecting pump. 5 years since last pump replacement - will check relays etc when car gets towed home, but have ordered a new pump just in case.
Was an interesting day, forgot my phone so had to hitch-hike to nearest town about 15 miles then took a bus from there and walked the last mile home. First time I've ridden the bus since the 1990's.
Tomorrow we go get her with the tow truck. This was only the second time she refused to start, last time it was the pump. Too bad I just gassed up
Oh well tomorrow is another day.

Only good part of the story is that I went to a beach 20 miles away ...considered going to the other spot, 80 miles up the coast REALLY in the middle of nowhere ...
After sleeping on the problem, I think it MAY be possible that I dislodged the pump relay or top of tank wiring - because as I was loading up the car I tried fitting my 10' rod (2-5ft sections) diagonally into the trunk. I have to carry it in the back seat usually. Anyway, I pushed the handle hard into the passenger side rear corner hoping to push past the carpeting to get it to fit and also pushed the rod against the carpeting over the tank both at the filler and antenna ends. It wouldn't fit no matter which way so I put it into the back seat. That's when she refused to start.
Oh well, we'll find out later today when we tow her back to base. One can but hope it's something as simple as that, but if not, Rock Auto shipped the new pump out this morning.

No fun, Larry!
Your '94 probably has an electrical connector in the fuel pump supply harness behind the battery. On our '93, that connector became slightly loose and arced for awhile before it burned enough to interrupt contact completely and cause a sudden cranks-but-won't start event. It might be worth checking that connector since it is in the general vicinity of where you were trying to fit your fishing rod.
I know I posted photos at Jag-Lovers but of course only the thumbnails are visible now.
Cheers,
Don

Well lads, Car arrived back at base so checked all the relays and swapped both out - no difference so opened up the fuel line at the regulator, gas there and at the rail so went back to spark side of things.
Used an old plug and got spark, but a bit on the orange side so went into parts stash and grabbed another rotor. Guess what? She fired right up. Bloody rotor!
So, in addition to packing round a spare CPS, I suggest we all keep a spare rotor in the trunk as well!
I guess the resistors in the rotors crap out after a bit ..on the bright side, the car seems to be running a lot smoother now too!
Just another day with a 26 yr old daily driver
