Can anyone tell me what the COMFORT CONTROL MODULE actually does? I am building a kit car based on a jaguar XJ40 and would like to remove modules that are not neccessary.

Hi Gerard,
I can't recall Jaguar using the term Comfort Control Module to describe any component in an XJ40. The Climate Control Unit (CCU) is the main central assembly that contains the heater core, A/C evaporator, blend flaps/drums and solenoid motors. The Climate Control Microprocessor (CCM) is mounted on the right side of the CCU. If I recall correctly, the early XJ40s (2.9L/3.6L engines) had a three-position selector on the control panel that gave three different "humidity" settings to adjust the incoming air for passenger comfort...
What year and model is the XJ40 you're working with?
Hi Don, thank you again. the module i am refering to is the "DBC 4966". When i search the web it said it was the comfort control module. The car is a 1990 4.0 litre XJ40 model.
That is the Engine Control Module, or ECM, the computer that controls the fuel injection, ignition timing, coordinates with the Transmission Control Module (TCM) for smooth gear shifts, etc. Depending on what you are doing, you may not be able to run the engine or transmission without it.
