Crank damper/ pickup ring replacement, '94 XJ6 4.0
I had posted this by mistake in the XJS forum, but will post it here as a follow up. 1994 XJ6, 4.0 engine. I'm a new Jag owner (haven't received the car yet), so I'm going by what the PO has told me. The pickup ring on the back side of the balancer has come loose, and now the car will not start (understandably). The damper is still firmly bolted to the crankshaft end. Does the crankshaft position sensor mount in the front cover? If so, would the loose pickup ring likely cause damage to the CPS, or is it recessed enough to prevent this? Are replacement rings available, as they bolt to the back of the crank damper? If a new (used) damper is needed, maybe someone on this forum has one available to sell. Thanks for your knowledge and time. David.
