Default Cruise Control Vacuum Pump

Hello all XJ6 owners. The vacuum pump for the cruise control on my 1992 Jaguar XJ6 needs replacing and I am having one heck of a time finding one. The OEM manufacturer is Hella, the part number is 003 572. I'm wondering as I can't seem to find the actual vacuum pump if there are alternatives out there. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the forums Rick,

I've moved your question from X350 for the 2003-2009 XJ's to the XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III forum for the 1968-1992 XJ's. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. The VW Jetta/Golf might have the same (or similar) vacuum pump. I know they used HELLA pumps so you might find one of those in the same era?(late 80s-early 90s?)

I know my wife's old MK 2 Jetta used one for the door lock actuators and I think the cruise control used a similar unit?

I hope the OP is following this trail. These Jaguars are fast movers.

Hi Rick,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

Have you confirmed that the vacuum pump is inoperative? A more common issue is the dump valve sticking or failing in the open position, which will prevent any vacuum in the system even if the pump is running.

A good salvaged part is one option. Check with eBay sellers who are parting out 1990-1992 cars and if they don't have a vacuum pump listed, contact them via eBay's message system to see if they have one.

According to the schematic (below), the vacuum pump contains a valve which is controlled by the Cruise Control ECU. It seems possible that you could use a 2-terminal vacuum pump and add a separate solenoid vacuum valve such as those used in the climate control system of the XJS. Generic ones are available on eBay and elsewhere.

You can download the wiring diagrams at the link below:

Cheers,

Don
