door handle, fuel smell, battery dying
Having run into these problems and seen them posted, ill summarise my thoughts:
a) door handle lifts right up unly engages at max travel then not at all. Adjust the linkages inside the door that run from the handle to the latch. You can actually screw in the nylon end links and shorten the rods
b) Lot of complaints about fuel smell in cabin. I had it as well. I had an aftermaarket locking fuel cap on and a fuel return hose that wasnt exiting at the hole in the floor, boot. I replaced the fuel cap with the jag cap and stuck the hose back through, no more fuel smell
c) Loss of battery charge overnight. Left rear door not locking as well. Due to stiffened linkages between the door actuator and the door lock. The door actuator is fine its doing its work but it cant operate the lock because its stiff. The door will continue to try and lock indefinitely...rapidly draining the battery. Solution: Door trim off and spray oil around the inkages until it frees up. Others may choose a more appropriate and longer lasting lubricant
FYI GENTS.
