Door Seal Questions
I can hear wind leaking around my driver's front door seal and have a couple of questions.
The seal looks to be in good condition, but do they lose their ability to seal over time? Car is a 1994 XJ6 VDP.
Door adjustment to stop the leak or is the right way to fix the leak to install a new seal?
Are the Moss seals original Jaguar? Unless URO has substantially increased their quality I was not happy with their seals I bought for a W123 Mercedes.

I just bought aftermarket seals on eBay, however that was a long time ago. They were a little more lightweight than the OEM (easier to fit BTW) but sealed OK and didn't produce any extra noise in the car.
I presume the air seal noise is coming from the top of the window/door frame? Can you notice any out-of-line areas or door sag on your rig? Is the window fully "up"?
If you adjust the hinge I suppose you could tilt the door inward at the top, but of course this hinge movement could affect the bottom alignment or even the lock mechanism ....personally I'd try something else first ...there are chemicals that will swell rubber, maybe that would work?
good luck

Yes, the wind noise/whistle is coming from around the upper window frame. I can actually stick my finger up there while driving and feel the air and change the "sound".
The window goes all the way up, no sag or play in the door hinges, body gaps are all equal, etc. I was wondering if I could adjust the door striker to suck the door in a bit more?
My concerns with the lighter weight seals is the chance of these lighter seals being damaged more easily during installation, as was my past experience with aftermarket seals for my Mercedes.

And here is the photo of the Uro Parts seals at Rock Auto:
Look similar?
Like you, I have had variable results with Üro Parts products, but as far as I know, they are the only company currently manufacturing new door seals for the XJ40. At least they are significantly less expensive at Rock Auto.
Cheers,
Don
