Fueling Failure!

Fueling Failure!
Three days ago I got in my car and my message center showed a nasty never before seen exclamation mark. Saying fueling failure. The message remained lit for the entire 25 min drive. I've never seen it before that, and haven't seen it again since then. I tried to rule out some possibilities. The fuel pump got replace about 8 months ago with a new one. Just about 3 weeks ago, got my fuel filter replaced as part of a tune up. What else can it be? Maybe just a one time glitch?

RE: Fueling Failure!
Here's the latest and greastest. I really hope some can give me some advice. The message occasionally comes up, and only one time with the code 3. I'm not sure what to suspect what the problem is. At times, I turn on the car and it will idle really high, between 1500 and 2000 rpm, for a few seconds then come back down. Other times, it oscillates between 900 and 1500 rpm very quickly. One other thing, my car battery is almost dead, I haven't gotten the chance to replace it, but its dying on me, takes either a few cranks or a good long one to get it started. Is the battery related to this? I haven't taken it to the shop becuase I don't have the cash of the time for the next 2 weeks. Help!

RE: Fueling Failure!
As much as a bad battery might cause this long cranking a low fuel pressure might cause this too.If your carstarts aftera long cranking when it'shot on the engine try this .Turn the key to 2 and then back to 0 . Repeat the procedure a few times butnever start the engine .After 4-5 attempts turn the key all way to the windshield in other words 3 position .
If it starts quicly like a new car your fuel pressure needs changing

Nothing happens when I hit the VCM button. Does my VCM button not work? But, if I turn the key just for all the electronics and not the car and hit it then, it goes through all the icons once, then start to show the exclamation mark. Even then, it won't give me a code. It usually just reads "Fueling Failure" but it has been two random times it reads "Fueling Failure - 3" Is that the code?

Another code came up. "Fueling Failure - 8" I did notice that they come up when the car is not on, only on that first click to turn all the electronics on. I usually just take it to the shop at the first sign of failure, but my cash flow isn't too hot at the moment, lol. Maybe I can fix codes 8 and 3?

RE: Fueling Failure!
Try to check fuel preasure regulator, it is placed on the front end of the fuel rail, its purpose is to close when preasure of fuel is to low and slightly open when preasure is to high (regulating more or less preasure). Important is, when engine is not working it should close and keep partial (about 1/2 of normal) preasure in the line. When is faulty it opens to easy and not allowing preasure to build up during cranking.
