A Happy Ending....
Not like that....
Hey Folks,
Well, it took far too long but after having to buy 20 new shims I finally got the Cylinder head rebuilt, fitted it along with new Dizzy cap, Rotor arm, Coil, Silicon HT leads and a K&N Air Filter. Refitted the battery and span the engine over before fitting a set of new, gapped Spark plugs.
Bloody Hell..!! She started immediately (after standing for 6 months) and settled down to a nice tickover.....
I added a Coolant flush and flushed the coolant system twice.
I added an Engine Oil flush and then dumped it and changed the oil and oil filter.
I then booked her in for an MoT as it had expired a couple of weeks earlier.
Under the cover of darkness I took her out for a quick drive just to make sure everything was ok.....
with 'spirited' braking the steering wheel tried to rip itself out of my hands by violently pulling to the left.
The next day and the car jacked-up, right hand front wheel off, Brake caliper off and seized piston freed up with a trusty old G-clamp.
MoT PASSED..!!
£50 of Super Unleaded and a cigar then out for a drive.
I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed this car....
Thanks again to those who have offered advice/suggestions and for all the help in getting me back here - with a big grin on my face.....
I love my Land Rover - I really do - but driving my Jag is just BRILLIANT
Cheers, Dave.
