How to reattach trim to exterior door..?
The trim has come loose on my 89 Jag.XJ6.
I tried the double-sided tape for this, but didn't hold long. Then tried epoxy - yikes, that was a disaster, didn't harden properly even after a week. Ended up taking the whole trim piece off, though initially only the front of the trim was loose, so I could clean all the epoxy off.
So now what?
A Jaguar mechanic suggested using the special kind of urethane that windshield repair shops use, as the adherent.
Has anyone tried this? I need to attach metal to metal - trim to car.
Any hints or experience would help. Thanks!

I had the same problem with my 1990 XJ6. The trim strip on the right side passenger door was hanging down. I used some black sealant/adhesive on the strip, then used painting tape to hold it overnight. It has been holding for almost two years now, through sub-zero winter and 109 degree plus summer. I think it was Permatex brand.

Appreciate the time you took to tell me about this.
However, in checking out the Permatex Black adhesive sealer (81158), I found that although it worked for some, others found it didn't set up well - meaning it didn't ever harden properly, and the trim came loose again.
Sooo, I decided to go with the urethane based adhesive sealant - took it to a place that puts in windshields because they use that. They prepped the area and trim first, then put on their urethane adhesive and adhered the trim to the body - all told took 10 minutes. I taped it up for a couple of days just in case, and voila!
Solidly in place and firm as can be. It worked beautifully. Problem solved. Very pleased.
Just thought I'd let you know :-) - or anyone else who might be having this problem,.
