Jaguar PDU Manuals & Software
#21
ok, i got the software to load...
first i burned the images on rather expensive verbatim blanks, which were not readable by the toshiba, so i bought another toshiba of that period and changed the laser to the unit in the fds , still they were not readable...then i burned images to cheap platinium blanks and the software loaded with just starting the machine
battery pack is quite new( from 2010) and works fine
i have a lot of ford cables and something called CPU what has a OBD plug on one side, and the VBA power unit for connecting to battery...
but nothing jaguar specific
I only need the PDU for XJS between 90 and 94 , for later models i have the WDS which works fine
so i think the only cable i ll have to build is the one for trunk socket in 93,94 xjs and the one for earlier xjs which is located near trans tunnel
as far as i found out these must be:
0755
0756
and on the car side these have only 4 wires , +, -, input , output
and have to be connected to the 8 connector plug to the right side of the PDU ?
right so far ?

Jaguar PDU CD drive
First of all, I am not drive Jaguars, sorry for that.
But I have and Ford FDS2000 diagnostic system. It is the same Hardware as the Jaguar PDU, and off cause, with the same problem of the Sony CDU535 Disk drive.
My CD drive was broken as well, and I was searching for a replacement or repair. For that reason, I found your fantastic community, and your Member Gijzzy helped me. He send me the circuit board to get the system running with a standard ATAPI drive. It works perfect. Less than 30 Minutes for the board replacement, an old DVD drive, and finished. A really simple repair. The speed of loading the Software is much faster as with the original CD drive.
I am so happy, that my FDS2000 is recovered. Many thanks to Gijzzy.
If you have a problem with the CD drive, get in contact with Gijzzy, he has a very easy solution to solve the problem.
Best regard from Germany

I know this thread has been quiet, but can some tell if I need the platform that the two PDU units sit on. Is that just a stand, or would that be required to make it work? Does it make anything any easier?
Also, is there a specific cable that I need to check for if I intend to use it on a 96 XJS with the AJ16 engine? It has an OBD2 port, is that how this ties into the car?
I am on the hunt and I need to know what I absolutely need, especially if its getting shipped. Thank you.

The stand is not required for operation. It does hold the power supply/CD-ROM unit, but aside from that it's not required.
Your 1996 has the OBDII connector and requires a cable which has the OBD connector on one end, and two round connectors on the other end that connect to the PDU. Gray for data and Purple for power.

When you say that the stand holds the power supply/cdrom unit, that just means it supports a piece of hardware physically, it has no internal components that are of any critical use?

Well you do have to have somewhere to put your cup of tea

JTP 626/7 is the final disc for the XJ40 and XJS, the one you need.
Do you have found a Ford FDS2000 including the 3130-1223 cable?
I have bought a Ford FDS unit with a MPA unit incl a different 16pin OBD cable. I wasn't sure if Ford used the 1223 cable as well.

Thanks so much for that picture! Shipping that base would have cost me hundreds of dollars! Eliminating that piece, by removing the CDROM and shipping only that, is a huge cost savings for me.
I'm basically having the seller remove that part, along with the two pieces of hardware and whatever cables come with this. That stand forced the package to be a minimum of 52" long by 24" wide by 20" tall! Removing the stand will make this a more standard package to ship out of the UK. Thank you.
