Jaguar Sovereign 3.6 1989 - Low pressure break switch
original Low brake pressure switch Jaguar Sovereign 3.6 1989 EU
Hello,
I recently experienced a brake problem with my Jaguar Sovereign 3.6 1989 from EU: The rear left wheel brake does not work.
After looking into it it seems the hydraulic low pressure switch leaks. Problem is the new part JLM 1563 does not work.
Can someone please advise where I could get an original part (number 4 in below diagram) to restore breaking system?

how do you know switch doesn't work?
from experience those switches usually leak prematurely but work till their end, if they are soiling your floor excessively then you may replace but problem with brakes is most probably caused by failed accumulator ball which is another costly and short lived element of this system
before diving into costly fixes check if you don't have sticking caliper, worn pads or air trapped in the lines
sngbarratt stocks switches oem and replacements, i had a luck with bmw accumulator *****, but they needed threading them size down in order to fit jaguar block but costed 5x less

Thank you very much for your reply. Answering your quedtion:
The car was showing a “brake failure” but would break.
When tested the rear left wheel showed not breaking.
After reviewing brake system, the low pressure brake switch was found to be leaking.
Jaguar said to replace it by JLM1563.
Once mounted the switch JLM1563 did not work for brake would be hard, and when tested with current it acted the opposite way the original switch does.
Conclusion: I am trying to find the original switch to mount it and understand if failure comes from switch only.
All help and information is appreciated.

..the plot thickens
if jlm1563 was leaking and was replaced then why would you try to do it again, was it replaced with something not oem?
who did the job you, jag or some workshop?
did car have the time to recharge pressure after replacement, it doesn't work straight away you need to have it running for a while till it builds up

Jaguar Sovereign 3.6 1989 lowpressure hydraulic switch
Thank you for your reply.
As mentioned I am looking for a solution for my hydraulic brake system where old low pressure switch can’t be replaced by new one suggested by Jaguar since they act differently.
Please find attached pictures of original and JLM1563 switches.

the upper one is oem item but someone did use epoxy on it and it looks junk, you can purchase it here or here or even try ebay they have some, take the notice at second link they also stock item installed by your jaguar shop (second image), it is good replacement and it also must work for you, i have hard time to understand why it doesn't.
It cold happen that someone swapped upper and lower switch in their places in the past and given the leaking switch is epoxified and you can't see its number you are trying to replace it with the wrong part
If you don't like price send me pm i could manage for you one cheaply

you are right, first link was broken, here it is fixed, and here is sngbarratt, on the right side you can click between original and genuine, as you can see original looks just like yours from second photo, here are oem switches from ebay, you can see they are just like your first photo.
Those from ebay are just what was provided by jaguar, due to high price some wise men found that those from second photo are cheaper and working replacement, and now they are available in various places, i insist the switch you've got is right for your application especially that it was installed by jag tech as you said and problem lies elsewhere.
your vin is all right, those was fitted to early xj40 only
if you insist on replacement, send me pm

Thank you very much for your reply.
I inositol the switch provided by Jaguar JLM1563 (the one of the second picture) does not act the same way the original one does.
This is the reason why I am looking for original part replacement.
I have seen in eBay link some with Girling code different to the one I managed till now.
Do you have or know where I can find the schematics of the vehicle with original Girling code and can you help me getting one at a good price?
Thanks again and please let me know whether you can be reached directly to provide support to the break system restoration.
