Default Light on warning sound?

Hello, as i have found out its suppose to be a beeping sound when you forget to turn off your lights? Mine does not? If i leave it in Drive or anything but Park its making a sound from under the steeringwheel but nothing when i the lights are still on? I guess it's the same speaker, what can be the cause of this? Having a hard time to remember to turn off my lights so i'm afraid i will end up with a drained battery.

Is it something wrong with my lightswitch, or is there some relay or something i need to check because i looked around today but could not spot anything.

best regards!

There are 2 different sounds there. There "car not in park" noise is a very fast beeping. It goes for about 30 seconds and stops. The "lights left on" sound is a slower sound and higher pitch- maybe 1/2 the speed of the other. I doubt that your light switch is the problem if all your lights work as they should. I have not had this problem but maybe you can check in the owners handbook to see if it can be (and someone has) turned the light alarm off manually.

Don't really have any idea of where i'm suppose to start looking to fix this fault..?

What is the vin of your car? Do the turn signals work, apart from hearing them, do they indicate?

Default no sound

Hi
I had the same problem. I my case simply the speaker was defect. its located at the steering column.

I changed it with an normal speaker froman electronic shop.

The speaker is a common failure point. If I recall correctly, it is a standard size, 2 inches/50 mm diameter, but its impedance is something like 60 ohms instead of the more common 8 or 16 ohms. I've used standard 8 ohm speakers as replacements, but the ones I've used were not as loud as the original 60 ohm speakers. This may be due to the new speakers being less efficient or to an impedance mismatch between the speaker and the amplifier output stage. The good news is that using an 8 ohm speaker is unlikely to fry the amp due to excessive current draw, at least based on my own experience.

If you can find a 60 ohm speaker with a magnet about the same size as the one on the original speaker you may have better results than I've had.

Cheers,

Don

Don - 60 ohms seems unusual - maybe it was 6.0 ohms and that is why your 8 ohm unit was a squawk or two quieter?

Yes 54 ohms exactly. But 60 ohm is ok.
