location of fuel pump?

Jagtech,
Thanks for the info. I'll be pulling the seat and checking further.
Tried checking for power to the fuel pump, but wasn't able to discern anything due to tool failure!
(Short rant here. I made a deal with my wife this afternoon ... if I ever, EVER buy anything that has a digital readout, in particular an LCD readout, she is instructed to find the biggest **** in the area and instruct him to pick up the largest object he can find to whack me upside the head!
OK, I'm better now!)

Okay, so I have located the fuel pump, fuel filter, and I have another source that confirms it is the black relay with yellow base. All the relays checked out as good. So the next thing I did was to disconnect the fuel line between the filter and engine. I then turned key to activate the fuel pump to see if it was working. It put out about 150ml of liquid. I say "liquid" because it wasn't just gasoline. I was about half gas and half water. The more it pumped out, the higher the concentration of water. I bought a siphon and got as much out of the tank as I could last night. This morning I disconnected the fuel line going into the fuel pump and drained the tank. Lots of water in there. I put a couple bottles of heat in there and added about 5 gallons of gas. It still hasn't started but my battery needs charged. I am also going to try to disconnect the fuel line at the engine and let the pump push the bad gas that may be in the line out. I hope that takes care of everything!

Nice recovery & not so bad that a pump change was in order! I've done the replacement on my '88 twice now, and it's fairly simple if you place the car on jack stands and remove the left rear wheel. It's kinda tight, but I can do it with my eyes closed and not even get under the car! Where did all the water come from, anyway?
