Air in the brake lines more than likely. Bleed your brakes and see if that doesn't help. Also, does it only happen first thing in the morning, or does it happen EVERYTIME you first start your car?

Are you talking about the Red light next to the Hand brake light or the Orange ABS light in the left column?

When you first turn on the ignition the car will perform a lamp check lasting about 5 seconds thus your warning lights will be on, and then go off, this is normal.

If it's the Red light that illuminates after the above, then check your Pads for wear. If they are not worn, do you have a very hard pedal because this light can also indicate a loss of servo, boost assistance and the brakes will feel hard, and the car will take longer to stop.

If it is the Orange light, the ABS system may have been partially disabled, but you will still have boosted braking. GO TO JAG GARAGE.

Important note DO ANY OF THESE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN DRIVING?

You should also see a fault message in the display on the VCM. Press the VCM button to read this. If it says PAD then that's a pretty good pointer.

thats where i see the message at is in the vcm, when i turn the ignition on but dont start it (all the dash lights come on) i get low brake pressure and anti lock failure warnings in the vcm .

they don't go out until i start the car but if i haven't driven in hours the low pressure stays on after i start the car but gos off the first time i hit the brakes. none of them occur while im driving. o and the pads are new.

it still drives fine and doesn't bother me but im trying to sell it and these warning lights might scare people away.

Sounds like there may be air in the system somewhere, if the light comes on while braking the accumulator may be going bad. I would have a friend turn the key ofr you while you listened to the ABS pump, is it running? is it running for a long time? Does it come on often? Does it come on every time you apply the brakes?

i just took for its first drive in 36 hours and the light went out as soon as i started it (before if it sat for more than a few hours i had it hit the brakes to make it go away)

im going to bleed them tomorrow and if that doesn't fix it ill leave it alone untill something new comes up.this car is driving me nuts.
