Or is there any major difference between the suspension in these cars? Or should they fit right in the body?

The kit I'm looking on is this one.

So should this kit just pretty much bolt into mine because of that???…. Also where did you end up getting your tank from ect? How much xtra did you have to buy after the kit? THANKS!

Hi kingsupabee,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

Your '87 XJ40 will have the stamped-steel rear control arms as opposed to the cast iron control arms introduced on the 1994 XJ40s and carried forward to the X300. The shock connection to the control arms is very different and the shock absorbers are different, so an X300 kit will not fit your car. I would think a kit designed for the earlier XJ40s should fit your car.

hey don thanks for that I have just introduced my self onto the forums! Ah yes I see what you are saying but he has an 89 xj40 model…. And mines a 87, he doesn’t have an 94? And his seem to work, and my rear end has been upgraded from the SLS system… so I’m a little confused on why it would work on a 89 and not an 87? Thank you!
