Map Lights Blinking - FIXED
There is something strange issue on my XJ40 . So, sometimes when you open the right passenger door ,the map lights starts to blink up and as soon as you close the door it stops blinking . Rest of 3 doors work fine though no blinking issue .
We checked the fuses and they seemed normal as well . Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Hi Caddy,
You mean all the interior lights flash, instead of staying on solid? If so, that's a fault with the microswitch on the door latch assembly of the affected door. You might be able to clean the switch with aerosol contact cleaner, but it is hard to get to and the interior door panel will have to come off first.
The switches aren't sold as a separate item, unless you can find a similar one at an electronics store os a used one. You can always disconnect it to prevent that door from turning on the interior lights at all: at least that stops the "disco" feature, and the interior lights will still work normally from all other doors. A new or good used door latch is the fix, and is a bit of a job to replace on your model. Let me know if you're going to pursue it, I'll see what I can come up with.
