My best time for rear damper conversion from sls to normal dampers is 45 minutes.
It was the 3rd conversion in a single day so I had the tools already laid out.
I have used both KYB and the Jaguar 'kit'

I have been successful with using the existing spring and adding 2 additional THICK plastic spring shims to keep the rear suspension from 'sagging'.

Finally, the rear shocks on my 1990 Jaguar have been replaced. Never having done this before, it took me five hours to do both shocks. Of course, I have cable TV in the garage and I did take time out to watch parts of "Executive Decision". But the part of the job that took the most time was the tear down and build up of the shock assemblies. I installed the KYB9309 shocks and they have a firmer ride than I like. But it's done and I'm not about to try something else right now. Another time, perhaps. And if you should decide to use the KYB shocks, don't forget to purchase the installation kit. I has the shims and boots that you will need to do the job right.

You must use KYB shocks with this kit but it is what is needed to replace the SLS system with regular gas shocks.

You can also get a kit from Broken Kitty:

http://www.brokenkitty.com/parts/xj4...tm#Shockchange

This kit includes shocks and costs a little under $200, however you may need some additional bushings and "foams", depending how badly yours are worn. This is the kit I have opted for. I also opted for all the extra bushings, foams and a pump bypass hose so the total was almost $300. But John (the owner) told me I can return the unused bushings/foams for a refund. I expect it to arrive in a day or so. I will post as to how the installation goes and the results.

Hope this helps.
How did the conversion work out replacing your SLS system, any issues I should be aware of? Planning on doing it on our 92 XJ6 Sovereign, thanks

Your timing is amazing. I just got the car back yesterday late afternoon. I have only driven it about 15 miles. So far I have noticed that the diff. replacement wasn't a success, but that's a different matter. As far as I can tell the suspension switch was a success. The car does ride stiffer than before but it had worn out shocks so I guess that's to be expected. It apparently didn't need new springs as the ride height is fine and it doesn't bottom or bounce. I guess the ride would be appropriate for a little more aggressive driver. I had a '93 several years ago and it had a softer ride. I'll post more after I have driven it for a few days. Oh, we did have to replace the upper shock mount on one side also, it had wallowed out the mounting hole.
