For the inline 6

jagrepair.com/images/Electrical/Elect-Tech All2/94 XJS 4.0L Electrical.pdf

See page 19

And the V12

jagrepair.com/images/Electrical/Elect-Tech All2/94 XJS V12 Electrical.pdf

See page 19

The starter relay is in the same place on both versions

See page 11 , hit the + icon to magnify

The relay can be swapped with one of the same part # on the relay but it must click with your finger on it

Someone recently labeled the fuses in the PDF file below at the very bottom

On my computer I attempted to make you a pic but the fuse labels did not come through

You can double click on the pic to enlarge , put on a flash drive and the office supply store can print it off on a large paper and even laminate it

So you have some tools to work with , do you have a electrical meter ?

So a test point would be if you have power present at socket 86 of the starter relay with the key in the start position

This verifies somewhat the ignition switch

Second test point would be the socket 85 that it has resistance close to zero

Or reset the start inhibit switch and just try to start

Start by measuring the voltage at the battery terminals in the boot.
Then restest the voltage at the battery terminals on the front bulkhead.

I think his meaning if find a positive source of power, like the fuse or relay panel in the engine bay.

He's talking about the two direct feed points from the battery, one on each side of the firewall. A little hard to see, as they are covered by black rubber boots.

Im stuck in a rut, battery is brand new and is giving good power but i have no power to my dash no gauges show up
Also whats the wire coming off the positve cable that goes to the battery
how much volts should the starter relay read in the on postion.

Have you measured the voltage at the bulkhead terminals rather than at the battery terminals?

Apols, it's called the firewall in the US.

There are +ve & -ve terminals on the firewall. You need to know that you have full voltage at those terminals for anything to work.

Hi Jmains123

It could be 'The Fuseable Link' that needs pushing together

Its a very common problem if you've got No dash lights or She won't Crank and is also a very easy fix that just takes a few seconds!

No Crank or No Lights? Check that the Fuseable Link is Pushed Tightly Together This is very easy to disturb especially if you've just Changed the Battery!
