Had this problem on my xj40 1989 since I got it, got so used to it but would like to have it fixed, i have no sound to indicate that I'm having my turn signal on except the arrow in the dash, and when I leave my lights on i have no kind of warning for that either?
If i have my car in gear while I turn it of it's a loud buzz from under the steering column so the speaker there works...?
What could this be? I have looked around so much I can but don't really know what to check.
Hi i've you sound when you move the selector gearbox out of "P" ? For light on my 87 there is not sound for light, i modified my system to have it.
Yes when I move it out of "P" it sounds, but now when turning.
Oh okey, how did you modify that? Maybe it doesn't have the warning for lights on by default?
The lights on warning sound emits from the Lights On Warning Module, a small audio annunciator shown as Part 12 in the diagram below. The turn signal sound emits from a small 2-inch/50mm speaker which is soldered to the harness for the Cancellation Module, Part 3:
The speaker has an unusually high impedance rating (I seem to recall that it is 60 ohms impedance, and one of our members measured a DC resistance of around 54 ohms). When ours failed, I replaced it with a standard 16-ohm speaker and it worked, but the output volume was low.
