I drive my cars in winter, {except on salted roads}, so I never spend any time preparing them for hibernation!
So the only tip I can offer is: don'tthrow away those little baggies of Dessicant (Dryer) that come in shoe boxes, electronic equipment packaging and other items, instead, throw them in the car's interior and trunk. They will keep it dry!
On the subject of Battery Maintainers, Walmart sells one for $14.97 made by Black & Decker thatdoes the job fine, and will even recharge a nearly-dead battery. I stopped buying the "$39.95 + shipping" variety because they burned outtoo many times, andthe manufacturer's "warranty" entails sending it back at one's expense, with a check for $20. in order to get it replaced!
The Service Manuals alsoinclude a Parts Manual, so you know the Part Number in advance when you start shopping till you drop! Very handy.

Great. I've found my dealer actually has quite the data base on my car even though it's a 93. I simply give then the serial number, and they can bring up all the options it came, (interior trim options and colors, etc.) with, when it was imported, who sold it, what its been in for, and a lot of other history and information pertaining to my particular car. Very cool

Well I finally found someone with the same problem noise!I bought my jag88xj40 from a jag tech and when I first toke the cat for a road test I couldnt believe the road noise.I ve been a BMW owner since 85 and they are quite.Anyway the guy told me to change the differential fluid and it cut the noise in half. But while I had the car jacked upI tested the wheel bearings and the drivers side had some movement.I just posted for help with how to replace the rear wheel bearings. So I will wait to see if Ken can help maybe that will be the end of the noise. But try the differential fluid change.

Catseyes.... I would take a good look at the coupler thingy I was asking Ken about earlier. A friend of mine spent a lot of time and money looking for what seemed like a bearing noise and it ended up being the coupler. Easy to check and might save a lot of effort. I am going to take a good look at this area in the spring when my Cat comes out of sorage before I look at any other. Well worth the few moments to inspect the coupler first, I too am suprised at the amount of noise in the cabin, and my cat also came from a Jaguar Shop and was daily driven by the owner. One would think if there was a problem they would have known about it, but then they well may have and simply didn't want to invest any time or money into a car they were selling. This would also help to expain the standard response on the few occasions I called them about a problem after purchase, "Hmmm, It never did that when we drove it." Yeah right! I bought the cat as is and would expect things to go wrong but as the bard once said, "Methinks thou protests too much."

Several month ago I purchased my first XJ6. I noticed right a way the road noise. A car with a unibody construction has a little bit more road noise than a separate frame construction. Having a background in the automotive industry, I still like the detailed and sometime complexed technical and electrical layout. I previously owned several fullsize Lincolns and other American cars with little or no road noise.
