I don't have specs/manuals for your car. However, I have info for the 4.0 "AJ16" engine which is the same engine family as your 3.6
At idle speed: 7.2 PSI minimum
At 4000 rpm: 70 PSI (which seems rather high to me)
Others may come along with XJ40/3.6 specific info
What readings are you getting?
Personally, if it's 5-10 psi at idle and 35-40 psi in normal driving/cruising (not high rpm work) I'd be comfortable
Remember that readings are naturally higher when the engine is cold
Cheers

For the AJ6 engine specs are as follows.
At idle: 30 PSI minimum (which seems high to me but my 4.0 does indeed register in the low 30s at idle.
At 4000 rpm: 70 PSI minimum.
Also remember that the gauges can be flaky, if you suspect a problem, replace the sending unit with a pressure gauge and check.
Cheers,
Allan
