Pair remote - door ajar

Pair remote - door ajar
Dear fellow Jag enthousiasts,
I have a question regarding the pairing of a remote fob to a 1993 daimler double six (xj81) (lhd). The car is originally Germand and now based in the Netherlands.
The fob I ordered is basically brand new by the looks of it, and it states on the circuitboard it transmits in the 418 - 434 mhz range. The battery in it is new.
Using the commonly quoated procedure I can get the car into learning mode. Just pressing the button on the remote doesn't supply a confirmation, as if the car isn't receiving, or the remote isn't transmitting.
Now, I read somewhere it is important for the door ajar switch on the drivers side to be working and the pairing must be done with the door open. I have tried this and the door ajar switch on the drivers side is clearly working. However, on the passenger side, both door ajar switches (front and rear) are broken. Could this result in the inability to pair the remote to the car?
Kind regards,
Ramses

Hi Ramses,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
I am not an expert on the remote locking systems but I know we have some members who are knowledgeable and hopefully they will reply. I assume you purchased the correct type of remote (Radio Frequency vs. Infrared) and that the frequency of the remote is correct for a German-market car.
One of our sponsors, Jagbits, has published these programming instructions:
How to re-program your keyless entry remotes 1990-1996 XJ6 Jaguar
In the meantime, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Daimler Double Six and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don

Hi again,
Well, I have followed the procedure to get the car into "learning mode", there is just no response when pushing the button on the remote.
The remote is a 432mhz (433?) one and should be suited for the basically German model I own?
The circuit board looks completely new and the battery has been replaced.
If the car goes into "learning mode", is it without a doubt certain a remote control should be pair able with the car, or might I still be missing some vital components regardless of the car going into leaning mode?
Regards,
Ramses
