Radio Problems
Hi there, wanted to see if anyone has run into this issue before. I will preface this by saying that I did do the jumper trick to make my security code 6543, and I know that's likely the culprit. But perhaps someone else has had these symptoms and can help. My radio will be stuck on 87.something fm when I enter the code. It plays no music and wont change the channel. If I insert a tape it just flips between side 1 and 2. BUT if I leave the battery unhooked for about a half hour and then put it back together, turn on the key, and turn on the radio, it works fine! I enter the code it'll play and change stations. The tape deck does the same thing, but oh well. I can turn the radio on and off by the knob and it stays working. Then the first time I shut off the key it loses it and if I turn it back on its stuck at 87 again. Any thoughts?

While I cant say Ive heard of this issue if I read your post correctly that even when the radio is on if you use the cassette it jumps back and forth from side to side?
I always thought that if the radio was locked...well its locked and is inop. the fact that yours turns on and does weird stuff I would think the radio is just DOA.
IMHO unless you are into stock for stock sakes I would just replace the head unit with a modern one and call it a day.

I'm not sure, but I just got it back in the dash yesterday. After a touch up on the solder, now the tape deck works, the radio doesn't, but it doesn't kick me to code anymore either. I'd say the unit is probably toast, but with the tape deck working, one of those phone adaptors and a radio app will do for now.
