Removing winshield (back window)soveraing 1992
Hi Guys
Due to some rust developing on the corner where the gas fill up is, I need to remove the window (rear), I noticed that is has crome all around, how difficult is to take that window off, and what steps do I need to do, before engaging this task.
The body shop would not do the job unless I remove the winshield(rear).
I contact different people to remove the windshield but they do not want to do it due to its difficulty.
Also, once I remove the windshield(rear) do I need to buy a new weather strip?
Thanks

As per Ken. I would recommend a different body shop that knows what they are doing. These screens are bonded in place.
or go to a screen replacement shop, pay them to remove the screen, leave it with them (for insurance purposes) go do your body repairs and then return to the screen shop for them to refit the screen.
Make sure that you have the replacement weather seal and trim available before dismantling.
You can easily butcher the trim and crack the screen if you have never done this before and a relpacement is serious cash.
If you must do it yourself.
If you have a friendly scrap yard nearby, why not see if they will let you practise on some of their old clunkers. You might have to buy them a beer or two, but it may well save you a packet when you don't break your own.
Refitting is not just the reverse of removal and is best left to the professionals.

Thank you, for your replays, what I don't get it, why the crome trims can't be re-used?
Or trim are something else besides the crome plates that goes all around the windshield.
I am pretty sure those trims are pretty expensive and hard to find them, If I am not able to re-use them.
Thanks
