Retro Fit Cruise Control

Retro Fit Cruise Control
I have built an Aristocat 120 using all the parts from a XJ40 including the wiring loom. But I have had problems with the wiring before and had to direct wire things, although it is all working now.
In view of the previous issues I have tried to bypass the wiring loom, please see below.
With reference to the wiring diagram attached, I've tied the PW wire directly to 12V. I think that by doing that I'll have bypassed that plug, relay and switch anyway?
Similarly, attaching PU to 12V should also keep it 'high' as I can't be sure that the turn signal indicators circuit is still intact.
I have (for the moment) attached all the lives directly to the battery which hopefully would prevent any fuse issues.

Can anyone help PLEASE? I have run out of ideas now!

Hello Don,
I have built an Aristocat 120 using a 4.0L 1990 XJ40 as the donor car. I have used the wiring loom etc. from the XJ40 but unfortunately it didn't have cruise control. I went to a breakers yard and got all the bits needed. The cruise control didn't work and I have had trouble with the wiring loom (possibly damaged during removal) so i tried to bypass some of it to get the cruise control working. I have tried to attach the modified wiring again. When I select the cruise control it seems to try to set but blips the accelerator and then cancels.
Any help would be great!

Hi Gerard,
Thank you for the additional information. Did you install the Dump Valve, and if so, did you test it to confirm that it holds vacuum when it is engergized? If I recall correctly, when power is applied to the Dump Valve, the valve closes, holding vacuum in the system so Cruise Control can operate. If Cruise Control is cancelled, or if the brake pedal is depressed, power to the Dump Valve is shut off and the valve immediately opens, relieving all vacuum from the Cruise system.
Another known issue is a vacuum leak from the Cruise Control actuator. You can test it with a hand-actuated vacuum pump.
Cheers,
Don
