Silly question

Umm, it appears you are NEW here, WELCOME. Enjoy your time here, and most of all enjoy your car, there is NO going back now, trust me.
There is NO silly question.
I am not aware of a conical washer on these, but I might be wrong, only a split bush in the front lug of the mounting bracket, at the head end of the pivot bolt.
That pivot bolt has 2 flat washers, one under the head, and one under the spring washer on the nut end.
Also some of these have a pivot bolt with the washer as part of the head, so that flat washer is deleted.
If you are certain about that conical washer, look at the 2 lugs that the pivot bolt passes through. One of them will have the apposing conical shape to accomodate that washer, I think.
I am aware of these conical washers on the adjuster rods on S2 XJ6 alternator and a/c compressor.

Um, yeah... What Grant said. You could not have asked a silly question because I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about! [Not to say that non-silly questions are the only ones I understand... Actually, the opposite is probably true!] I trust you got it worked out. Welcome to the forum and glad that you are here.
happy motoring!
