Default someone please help me with my car???

Hi I am new to forums. I own a 1993 xj6 two tone, silver on black very nice car. Here the past few weeks its been giving me a lot of problems an I can't pinpoint the issue. I have had a transmission light come on an kick out my sports mode, an the car drives in a high gear an does not switch gears. I have unhooked the battery an reset the CPU, the light went out an the car ran fine for a few days until the light came back on. I checked all the relays an fuses. On the dash the car tells me fuse 2-3-4 so confused please help???

Hi coldtater:
Research and review the archives regarding the effects of a dirty Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on the dreaded 'limp mode' condition.

Sounds like you have a dead short in the brake circuit to me, it takes all the juice when you hit the brake. I'd start there.

Coldtater,

Have you had any work done on the vehicle that you haven't told us about? Such as oil/transmission service, brake service or engine work?

How experienced are you at trouble shooting a problem? Your opening post information leads readers in one direction, then your response to Scott is entirely different direction.

Are there fault codes showing up along with the fuse indicators?

Have you told us everything that is currently not working properly on the vehicle?

Do you have a multi-meter to measure volts, amps, and ohms?

Here to help, we just need all information in order to give you great information.

I have had brakes an rotars, oil change, an a front wheel barren replaced that's about it. From the looks of it the owners before me did nothing. Because I am replacing factor relays on the car trying to figure out the problem. I have checked all my fuses an replaced all my relays. I have not tested anything because I have no multi-meter wish I did.think its time to take it to the shop?? All the vcm is telling me is fuse 2-3-4 no codes.

So you replaced the blown fuses, 2-3-4? 2-3-4 is the section, in your case, 2 is in the LH side fuse box. 3 is in the center console fuse box. 4 is in your accessory fuse box.

One more thing you should know. That "4" is an accessory fuse box located in the trunk on the LH side behind the carpet. Some cars have these, some don't. There are 10, 3amp fuses in there, they all must be present or you will get a false blown fuse code.

coldtater:
Did you replace those fuses or just visually inspect them. It certainly would be easy and cheap to do the former...

Is your car still in limp mode?

I visually checked all the fuses. What is fuse 2,3 I have no fuses in my trunk. Is that the fuses that are located beside the back tale light I have a repair manual that shows me where its supposed to be? ? Ya my car is still in limp mode? ?

The funny thing is my vcm is telling me 1,2,3,4 an sometimes 5. Then I will check it again an it will say 2,3,4?? But I am not getting a bad fuse indicater an my dash to the left? ?? It is also telling me PAO, would the brake pad sensor cause my car to go into limp mode? ?
