starting problems (no spark)
Hi,my 94 jag L6 engine will not start.Checked for spark,no spark.Checked coil (+) hot post with key on and it is only getting 7 volts from ignition key wiring.Checked coil (-) negative post with key on and it has 7 volts also.I imagine the problem to be coming from the ignition (key) wiring. When I try to start car, starter turns over good. There is no voltage reading when meter cables are attached to coil (+) positive post and coil (-) negative post while cracking engine.I wore down battery trying to start engine.I charged battery for two hrs. and when I tried starting engine, it started first crank. I checked voltage again at coil posts and they read 9 volts. Hope there is somebody out there that can help me solve this problem. Thanks,HarryK

Starting problems (no spark)
I just wanted to add that car does start with only 9 volts at coil terminals. From what I understand, ignition coil should have (12volts) battery voltage at terminals.I had trouble starting engine before this and engine started after charging battery.I had good cranking power prior to charging battery. Thanks Ken,had battery tested and it is good.I did some more checking. Before I had complete no start. Engine seemed to start only after you released key,not while cranking.I pulled fuse from engine management control and still have low voltage at ignition key circuit.Jumped ignition key connection and still have low voltage.Ignition key circuit has about 5 connections to the instrument pack.I was wondering if one of the gauges in the instrument pack could be pulling the voltage down.I was thinking of disconecting the ground wire for the instrument pack and see if battery voltage is obtained.Does this sound feasible? Is it posible that this 94 Jag. L6 4:0 liter engine does`nt requirer 12 volts for engine management?I hope one of you guys out there can help me.
