Teardrop Center covers
Hello,
I'm slithering over from the Xj6 Series section next door.
I have Xj-40 rims on my car, and one of the moon covers fell off on the road the other day.
Of course I didn't notice until today in my garage, and what's left looks Terrible!
A cover like this was glued on, this is one of the rear plastic ones.
I've searched Google, who sent me to SNG Barratt and Moss, they only have the rear, and eBay, the seller of course is out of stock. Amazon doesn't even have them which surprises me a bit.
Can anyone here point me in a better direction?

Thank you Jerry,
I only took the guy's word that the rear covers, of which he included a spare, wouldn't work on the front as they would interfere with the bearing cups. He's been wrong about SO much regarding this car (I wouldn't like to say he deliberately misled me) that I decided to check for myself if it was true.
It's NOT!
There's Plenty of clearance for the center badge! So I ordered another from SNG Barratt as they seem to have them in stock. (Just another payment on a Classic Jag. Ya have to do that once in a while)
So now I only need to find center badges. That shouldn't be all that hard.

Hey Elinor,
I didn't know those were XJ40 vintage, but I won't tell anyone. I do like them very much.
If thats the factory glue job, it leaves something to be desired. Unless you consider it fair to last as long as it did! Are you now on a mission to attempt re-securing the other lids to avoid another embarrassing wardrobe malfunction as this?

Hello, Richard, and thank you.
NO! I am Not considering any attempt to reattach the outer covers. I do think it was amazing it lasted this long. As far as I know, these have been on the car since 1986 when all the conversion work was done by the PO.
I have ordered more of the plastic covers that were on the rear as they fit the front Just Fine! I will be ditching the "original" cap on the other side for a far more secure one from SNG Barratt, which is in the pipeline. I already have the center badges in hand.
I have ordered 3, as these are swiftly entering the realm of Unobtainium, and, as they're merely Plastic, one could easily break while being taken on or off the car.
