Unbelievable!!
Some of you may know, I was hit in my drivers side of my Cadillac last Wednesday, which has been deemed totaled. I have had my eye of a Jaguar for years. I found one I liked, test drove it and looked it over. I bought it today at 11am (NY Time). I drove it around took it to my main mechanic, he charged the AC, working good now as well.
I got home parked in my driveway, went inside to open my garage and the car rolled backwards while in PARK down my driveway into some thick pine. Blowing out the back window, denting the right quarter, broke the power antennae, bumper, taillight and molding and has destroyed the paint up to the roof!! Not a happy man I am!
Transmission Linkage Issue??

Parking Prawl?? I had the car running, I just wanted to go in and open my garage. My deiveway is a little uphill. I had to be sure it was in park, I wouldnt have been able to get out of the car. And no the hand break wasnt used, I have never used the emergency break in the past, I wasnt aware its an actual breaking device to be used when in park.

It's an established fact that most accidents occur within 25 miles of home.
Sounds like you need to get outta town for a while.
(Don't think I'd hit any casinos or buy any lottery tickets on the way, either!)
All kidding aside, that's a damn shame.
Living where I do (basically flatlands), I seldom if ever deploy the parking brake. Probably a lesson for all of us to be learned from your misfortune.
Hope things get better!

Oh, man! Tough break. Sorry to hear it.
As far as parking brakes go it's a good idea to use them whenever you park the car. Firstly, lack of use usually renders them inoperative via seizing up....then the one time you really *need* to use it, it won't work. Regular use keeps the p/brakes in good working order.
Secondly, with the weight of the car held by the parking brake the strain is removed from the transmission. This is particularly apparent if trying to shift out of "P" when parked on a hill....without the parking brake set.
Cheers

I hope you can fix it out soon none the worse before the incident
Well, speaking of parking brake , when I am on uphill for a short period of time (get out of the car , close the gate and then get back into the car ) I use Parking Brake and N rather solely P .May be too lazy to engage the P lol
