Well Blown...
It looks like one of those famous Jaguar heater blower motors has decided to go to wherever dead Jaguar parts go... and I think I'm in need of a new one, or hopefully a good used one. Although I can hear the blower running, the flow of air is anemic in any setting or fan speed. This leads me to suspect one of those gold plated blowers might be suspect.... any thoughts?

Due to the recent fiasco with getting ripped off by a seller over my Leaper, I no longer trust nor use eBay. They simply can not ensure a fair transaction and do not act on your behalf. If Iwere to buy something from Ken, I'd at least know the item was good, that I'll receive it, and that it is what I expected.

[:@]Gee musta missed that. Anyhow, I think anyone considering ordering anything on eBay really needs to be prepared for disapointment. I had a lot of really great transactions, but there are a growing number of idiots on there with the intent to defraud. I will mail order if I need to, but never again I eBay...eBay smeeebay.

Hey I know, I could list my non-working blower motor on eBay after I get it replaced, just omit to mention it doesn't work... After all you bought a blower motor for a 1993 XJ the auction never specified it was in working condition. Just that it was a 1993 Jaguar heater motor. Truth in avdverts ya know. [:'(]

We have rebuilt blower motors. I can't remember what year XJ40 you drive. Jaguar used 4 different blower motors on these cars contingent upon VIN number. The new ones from Jaguar start at over $600 each. We don't carry these. We have rebuilt units for $325 plus a $200 core charge. It goes out the door at $525 and when you send your old unit back, we put the $200 back on your card.
You can still hear it blowing because you probably lost only one side. The other side is blowing, but since the air isn't being meet in the middle it just blows around in the dash and not the vents. Jaguar blowers still come as open units. The motors are exposed so the condensation fills them and they rust. Ours are sealed units so they will not rust out. Innovation!

Mine's a 1993. Is there an easy way to tell which side is affected? I was thinking I can pull one of the underhood relays? Or is it not that simple. If I need to go and replace one of the blowers, would it be best to change out both to your sealed units? I'd think the cost might be worth is considering the labour as they'd already be in the area anyhow...

before you run and buy new blowers, I would troubleshoot the system to verify the problem, the XJ-40 is known to have a problemwith a little circuit board that containsa "Darlinton" transistor which control the Speeds of the blowers. The circuit board is contained in one of the Blower Cases. From what I read, it is an easy do-it-yourself repair if you're handy. Also, I know there's at least one guy that will rebuild the circuit board for you.
study the info. in the following links, (save the webpage links in your Favorites so you can recall them later). I really doubt it's the blower motors, it's probably just the transistor(s).

As to your eBay experience, I am sorry to hear but I buy parts for both my Jags through eBay Sellers who are very honest people, and I have been an eBay Buyer/Seller since 1999. Yes, there are dishonest sellers, nowadays especially, but you can navigate through those using the Feedback Scores, and asking questions. If the seller does not give you straight answers, youwalk away. Overall, I have met very good Jaguar Parts Sellers on eBay, some which go out of their way to find difficult parts for me. You can find any parton eBay.
