What ecu is behind the glove box
There is a ecu behind the glove box that is rusted I feel that it is causing all my shorts in my car. What ecu is this is this the main one and what does it do. This isnt mine this is a photo of a new one mine is rusted and looks to have water damage. Any help would be welcomed.

That's the CPU
It mounts behind the glovebox, offset toward the center of the car. One pozidrive screw in the top slot, two on the bottom to retain it to its' mounting bracket.
This unit controls various accessory fuctions: clock, antenna timer, interior light sequencing to name a few. PM me if you want a good used one and don't want to get robbed for it.

Hey Bill,
PM me with an address. The manuals came back to me from your Post Office as unclaimed. Hope all is well.
Navy, I don't think the CPU affects the fuel pump circuit. The fuel pump relay should energize when the ignition is on, and click again after about two seconds when it is de-energized. I'd have to look at a diagram to see if this timing is controlled by the CPU and not the ECU.
Locate the pump relay, underdash RH side, and see what you have with a test light.
I had an '88 or '89 come in many years ago that had a resistor plate wired in series to the pump, and located under the rear seat cushion. That's where there is a connection to the link lead which goes out to the pump. There was no power out of the resistor. The big mystery was what in the hell it was there for: Jaguar didn't show the component, and I have never seen one on any other XJ40.
By the way, thanks again to both of you for your service to the United States of America on its 233 birthday !!
