What is the shop time for....
What is the shop time for replacing the valve cover gasket? My XJ6 is showing signs of leaking around the valve cover. I know this may seem a basic question but I am new to Jag ownership and am not yet familiar with how long things take or what they should cost. I like to be an informed owner.
Thanks

Greetings SacJag,
Yours is a '96 if I got it right, so it takes a little time but nothing drastic. If you're being quoted more than 1.5 hours, that's too much. One hour is reasonable.
Now, I have a request of you in return. I saw you are from Sacramento, and I am trying to locate an old race car that was last seen in your city. Please have a look in the oldest paper telephone books you have for two phone numbers:
Proformula Racing, Sacramento yellow pages
Steve Farnsworth, Sacramento white pages.
It shouldn't take but a minute, and I've gone through all the resources that I can get online.
If you could send me a private message with any assistance, I would greatly appreciate it.

Greetings SacJag,
I'd say your guy is only a tad pricey, but my guess is that labor rates in your area would all fall into that catagory.
I don't know if the lead you provided will pan out, I'm going to try it in a minute. That was a darn fine thing of you to do, regardless. Get in touch with me if you ever need a bit of advice, or an order of bits. Thanks!
