XJ40 ABS Fault Codes
Hi my name is Chris. I live in Northern Michigan and have a 1989 Vanden Plas. My adventures in repairing my car have led me to this forum many times. I have acquired some Tech Notes and info I would like to share. I anyone has any input or something to add then please do so. My current problems are with the ABS System. I have added this PDF to help anyone who can use it. Thanks again everyone for all your help.

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
Thanks for sharing the document on ABS fault diagnosis. Do you happen to know the date or date code of this information?
Also, we would be interested in knowing about the ABS problems you've been experiencing and how you're coming along on the resolution. That's how we all learn from one another.
Cheers,
Don

More Tech Notes
These notes and info sheets seem to be dated from Feb 89. I have added the rest of the info I have in this PDF.
My ABS light came on as soon as I turned the key. Replaced ABS relay and that light went away. When the vehicle starts to move the ABS failure returns. I have acquired 2 NOS ABS Sensors and will begin to trouble shoot soon. The pump will not turn on. I also have a Low Brake Fluid warning. I replaced the cap but still no love. I will trace that wire back to the ECU and see. Overall that's about the only issues I have. Their is no accumulator since I replaced that system with a Vacuum conversion. If anyone can chime in feel free. Thanks
Chris

Chris,
Thanks for posting the additional information. The notes at the end look like those in some of the dealer service training manuals I have.
I wish I could help you with your ABS woes, but I've never had to do much on that system other than replace a couple of accumulators and one combined pressure/warning switch. Likewise, I haven't done the vacuum conversion. Do I understand that as part of the conversion the accumulator is deleted but the pump remains?
You might check in at the XJ40 at the Jag-Lovers forum because I know at least a couple of the guys who hang out there have done the vacuum booster conversion and there are also some guys who have dealt with ABS issues. There is also some very helpful information in the XJ40 eBook there. You'll have to register, but it's free.
Cheers,
Don
