Default XJ40 XJ12

Hi All,

Happy (American) Thanksgiving to all! First time poster in the XJ40 section. I have been thinking about buying a vehicle with a v12 for quite some time.

My question is, did many XJ40 XJ12's make it to the US? Did any come from the factory with the four round headlights? *Shown in the below top gear video*

Thanks.

Those who know about them will be able to answer your questions...in the mean time, do you want a turn-key car or project? This might be tempting to someone https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...dId=1530507698 he has the bumper, etc parts that are not shown in the photos (I asked).

Not an XJ40 authority but I think the 4-light set up was used on certain USA-market cars for just 1988-89. By the time the V12 XJ40 came around I'm 99% sure that all USA-market cars has the rectangular headlights

Cheers

Two light set up before 1990 in US. I do believe they went to the single euro style after that. I have a 92 Majestic and 94 XJ12 and both have the single lights. The 94 Is available as a project for a great price if interested.

North American cars were only fitted with European single reflector styled headlights (aka "fishtanks" - VALEO brand) in the VERY first VDP's they were soon dropped and the later cars, if not fitted with twin round headlights, sported a uniquely North American longer rectangular unit, the HELLA twin reflector headlight.

I have a 94 xj12 and have the rectangle headlights. The round ones are indeed a good look.

Thanks.
Clarckson really rocked that "Fro" back in the day didnt he? lol

Personally, I really like the "fishtanks" on these cars. the 95-97s had the 4 lights but the hood moulded around them giving them the traditional look. Im not a fan of the 4 lights in the XJ40 myself.
