16x8 Lattice wheels on an XJC, will they fit?
Hi guys
I have just joined the Jaguar Forum.
15 years ago I owned my first Jag, a 1980 Series 3 Daimler fitted with a 350 chev, I had pedders suspension fitted and some simmons, of all my cars, that was my favorite, it felt great, a real drivers car.
I am now the proud owner of a 1977 XJC 4.2, my new best car.
I’ve been looking everywhere and had problems finding accurate information about the widest rims that will fit straight on an XJC without any modifications.
Are there any nice looking 8" alloys OEM either Jaguar or any other make of car around with the correct offset to bolt straight on to an XJ6?
Anyway, I have Kents on my car right now but I just jumped in the deep end and I’m awaiting delivery of a set of original 16x8 Lattice wheels - 8Jx16 CH x 33mm that I found.
I can’t find any information on them anywhere and I've got my fingers crossed. Will they bolt straight on the car with 225's?
If they do fit, does anybody know what profile tyre I would need to run on them to keep the speedo as accurate as possible?
They had 225/55/16’s on them and unless I hear otherwise, I will be putting the same size tyres on.

OE tire is 26.1 inches over all. A 225 55 r 16 is 25.7 inches. Thats close enough and when you consider tire buldge will be less with the 16x8 wheel then it should be dead on dynamically.
16x8... Good wheel. Car should handle like a champ and still will have a complaient ride. Add a rear sway bar and you will have a very capable Coupe.

My wife and I live in the Gold Coast, on sunny days I usually just putt around locally and I won't drive it in the rain.
We also like to go for the occasional cruise down to the beach, it's only about 15 minutes to the coast.
It's a sweet ride and I can't wait to get the new wheels on it.

I searched for 3 years specifically for an XJC, something fairly local and luckily I got the phone number off the ad as soon I saw it pop up.
The guy told me he had some problem posting the ad so he canceled it after less than an hour. In that time he got 6 calls but I got there ASAP. You have to be real quick.
As the car sits now, everything is just right and it owes me around 25K.
So, I bought these 8” Lattice wheels online from overseas and the shipping could take as long as a month. I’m a bit anxious because I don’t even know if they will fit on my car yet.
Does anybody know if they are going to fit straight on with 225 tyres without mods because I often hear 7” rims are the widest rims that fit on an XJ6?
Can someone point me to some pics of a set of the 8" Lattice wheels on a Series 2 XJ6 / XJC?

Well, I got my new wheels and took them in for a test fit before painting them I had my fingers crossed but they don’t fit.
The back wheel sits just right but the front rim hits the tie rod.
A 5mm – 10mm spacer on the front wheels only might be a solution but I would like to hear some opinions before I do that. I have seen some 10mm aluminium spacers on eBay for $50.
Any problems with using spacers for the front wheels only?
Are spacers legal?

I have spacers, longer lug nuts on my '71 XJ. There are seven inch wide XJ40 wheels but S1 front hubs are different from the later models... the tires hit the tie rods ends before. They fit fine in the rear...
Be sure to get spacers that fit around the hub and lugs tightly - hub centric.
No problem with them in my state as we have no inspections or smog for cars this old but you should check in your locale...

Now I’m having second thoughts, it was a bit of an ordeal getting these wheels and I really want them on my car but I was also hoping to keep it all legal. I might even have to consider another style wheel.
Anyway I found these spacers:
https://www.ezaccessory.com/Billet_H...120-10j-lo.htm
I’ll refit the front wheel and make sure a 10mm spacer will definitely give me enough clearance because if I use spacers I would like to keep them a minimal thickness.
These spacers look like a safe option and should suit the wheel with no further problems apart from needing some longer nuts.
Are these the type you guys have used or would recommend if I decide to go ahead?
