Default 1975 XJ6L comes home. Bonnet swap?

Not Jaguar's finest colour scheme, but the series 2 is home and should be running in a day or so.
It's relatively rust free and has a decent interior, but I've found myself with a series 1 parts car and wanted to know what will and won't fit.

The yellow one has had a whack on the front at some point and appears to have a S3 grille and a lot of bondo in the bonnet as well as a crack or two. I've read that the early bonnet with hinges etc and bumper is a bolt in swap but I've heard that before and am sceptical !
I'd be interested in having a try at replacing the dash with the earlier type as well and I like the look of the horn ring type steering wheel.
It looks as though the rear bumpers should swap too , presumably with the right brackets.

Has anyone done this , or knows if it can be done ?

BRRR, looks too cold for me.

Snout from one car and torso from another ? different "yellows" or merely \
more oxidation in one than the other.

I suspect the Jaguar name is Primrose???

More pics, sir.

I've learned this super fast Dell on XP can handle pics and the other slower Dell on Win 10 can't???

Mebbe, I'll mix and match some more. Nope, I'd risk with neither doiing well?

Primrose.. whatever way you look at it it's yellow!
I think the front wings were repainted following the accident . Thanks for the pics, it's always great to see good examples of our cars on the road. Reminds me of what can be done given time and patience..

I've noticed that a few S2's in the U.S. have been modified with S3 grilles and/or tail lights, must be popular mod's over there? Anyway, car looks nice and straight, and as you address the body/paint work I imagine you'll be tempted to "lose" those added side bump strips?

Black is always the most elegant in my book if it wasn't for the maintenance. I've seen primrose on a restored XKE that was lovely.

I say lose those side strips. It was half the reason I liked mind. I just think it tidies the side. With paintless dent removal these days, I'll take the risk.

Maintenance isn't bad if I keep up with it. It only takes me about 15 minutes to give her a treatment of Meguair's Ultimate Quick Detailer (I've never washed this car) which I find quite relaxing. I'm set for a couple days before I have to scrape the bugs off, or longer if it happens to not be bug season.

I've already begun removing them - they've been screwed on rather than riveted and it's an open invitation to rust. Even if they weren't hideous anyway!

I am partial to the black XJs, I've seen very few around and I'd be tempted were mine a darker colour now. I think the very first E-type I saw in the flesh was Primrose, so I think I could get to like it

The brown interior, however .....

Perhaps the entire front snoot is of S3 origin. A repair of collision damage by adding used parts. Lucky find, same color!!

In 2001, I had a vague thought of getting a Jaguar. I passed a special car sales place regularly on the way to town and back. The owner displayed his personal toy in the window. An XKE. Bonnett open, shiny wires and a fully detailed engine bay. I later learned, the color ws primrose!

Sometime later, another Jaguar appeared. Grosvenor brown. 83. Buckskin (?) interior. A dramatic combination, different by far than most. Looked and looked. Thought it was gone once. Succumbed, got wifey. We went in. Test drove. had a hard time getting her to look stoic, while I negotiated. cost me, I'm sure....

It became her Jaguar, although she had given driving up. She looks down from above to make sure I take good care of her Jaguar....
