One of my favorite words, "DONE". and akin, "into the DONE" column.

Next week, I hope to move my starter misadventure into the mythical column."

Smile floor plumbing

Hi Guys, Last weekend was full. 3 days non-stop.
The floor is getting some colors. The restored accessories look so great on a brand new undercoated surface.

We painted the gas tanks and we made the some new heat shields for the rear mufflers. (I didn't had the pics but I'll upload them too).

Thanks! If everything works as we expect... by the end of the summer. We have been working on the project for the last 54 weekends... and everyday at night for few hours. We really need finish the project. It is a very complex car. Lots of parts and each part needs work.
Tomorrow we are going to the muffler shop to fix some stuff... the exhaust is in pretty good shape but somebody welded the pieces.... we want to use the original clamps.

I'll keep you update.

Again, nice work.

It is running so as to go to the muffler shop? Wow!! Or is it only the exhaust that is going there as a pattern for anew system, sans welding. Yup, most muffler shops weld rather than clamp. Faster and less likely to leak or slip. Eliminates lot of stock as well in various types of clamps.

I've admired the latest generation of clamps, the band type. as opposed to the tube type that bite into the metal and misshape it. slicker looking as well.

But, way back when, I did some of my own muffler work I used the clamps and later took to welding. Oxyacetylene in my case. Today? Although my skill with MIG not up to the task.

Jag came home on a flat bed. Flunked test drive.

Hi Carl,

No, the entire exhaust system is in pretty good shape but the right pipe that is between the catalytic converter and the first muffler was 'home made' with some kind of water pipe or similar (very heavy!) and the ends were bad. Plus the unions were welded and I didn't like them. So, Mr. Ricardo from Dual Tone shop in Pacific Beach made a complete pipe with the same shape. Then I also brought the muffler and he adjusted the ends for a perfect fit. It looks nice.
Today I've installed all the brake and fuel lines and tomorrow I'm going to hang the exhaust on place, although I'm not going to final tight it till the engine and new the catalytic converters are on place.

Thanks to follow every detail of my project Carl

No doubt that this will be the best xj12 in the states. Back in the beginning you were just going to do a few things to get her on the road. I guess one thing led to another...

I (and probably most of the guys here) would love to see a full picture or two of the other cars hiding behind the Jag. Looks like an interesting collection.

Great work, keep us posted :-)

Thanks Richard! I don't know about ... 'the best in the states'. Yes, the idea was put it on the road but I could not fix one part and put it back without fix another one... and then another one... and have a good engine and bad suspension,... and see the old paint, and the old upholstery,... and finally the ugly US bumpers... so, I took the whole thing a part and ... 'voila!'

Since there is no way to keep any privacy on this forum I don't feel comfortable to upload any picture of someone else car. Often I post pictures of my projects on Facebook (there, I can select who is going to see the pictures). I'm accepting all the friends request as long you like engines and you are respectful with me and my work.

My misfortune, I guess. I don't do face book? why, kind of for the reason you just mentioned. Privacy. But, a mixed feeling, no question. I thionk someone way back friended me. I've done nothing about getting unfriended and probably will not.

Yet, when posting my car, I don't blur the numbers???

My telephone is listed along with my address.

Not sure as to what ID my cell shows. Not concerned, either.

Enough OT blabber.

Your Jaguar is a great example of shipwright's disease. And well done as it grows.

Kudos

Thanks so much Carl for your support on my project.

I didn't believe with Facebook... and I probably was the last one of my generation to get an account. Currently is my best friend. Since I'm living overseas and all my friends are spread over the world... I threw the towel. Before I had to send +50 emails to all of them, and I always forget about someone... I can't answer the same question individually to all of them. Now I just hang a picture on my wall and everybody can see it. You must to spend some time to manage the privacy of your account, though. For me is very important.

That is absolutely the cleanest engine bay that I've ever seen. Fabulous. An example for all.

Kudos +++++
