1983 jaguar xj6 series III stalls low idle when hot
I drive the car once a week aprx 50 miles to and from work.
it decided to start stalling when hot at low idle.
will not start till cool.
I turned idle up and been driving ok, but idle is too high to ignore plus cant restart till cool.
I changed the coolant sensor, but no luck.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

On Ser III XJ6s both the coil and ignition module are known to typically fail when hot and prevent restarting until the engine has cooled down. However, when they fail the symptom is not usually restricted to "stalls at idle". Other running problems usually occur. Of course, "usually" isn't the same as "always" or "never" :-)
The "could be" list is long. The fact that it dies and will not start for a period of time is actually a bonus...as opposed to tacing a fleeting symptom that lasts only a few seconds.
Next time it won't start, check to see if you have spark. Knowing that will determine which direction to go. No sense is spending a lot of time looking for or discussing a fueling problem if you don't have spark !
Cheers
