Default 350 Admirers

The other day, Nix once again found herself the Only Jaguar in the parking lot. (Jaguars are normally solitary creatures, only gathering with others of the species on special occasions.)

When I came out, instead of the normal BMW or Giant 4x4 parked beside her hoping some of the Class would rub off, I found a couple "experienced gentlemen" drooling all over her shine.

One asked about the engine; if she still had the original XK or had she been converted to the Mercan Standard, a Chevy 350 (he obviously knew something of their history in California). So I popped the hood.

One of them knew of a local firm that made those conversions as a business "back in the day." As there's not been much call for such things in the past several decades, they're no longer in operation. What a Shock!

Nix just purred.
Like any cat she Loves attention.

Looking very good. There's been some serious polishing going on since the SigPic was taken.

NIX, looking good as she loves to do !! That is just the way it is !!!

Lotsa of "Fridges" in the parking lots, If frequent, but over the decades many Non appliance cars to admire. Mine, albeit some what scarred, but still gets attention !!!

Lunch time !! Menu: Spam, the real world kind, red beans from a can, and mixed green salad to appease my daughter !!! Dear departed wife must have delegated the latter at some time .

I'm glad mine's maroon. It's Qld's state colour.

I like black with a maroon tinge to it that only comes out in bright sunshine.

Chrysler Concorde had that color once, they called it Black Cherry.

Too much Cherry and not enough BLACK in the one I saw; which, mind you, was quite old at the time and so may not have been a true representation of the original.

I think "Black Cherry" was a color option on the Canadian market only V12 saloons circa late 80's to early 90's vintage.

Dr. Andrachuk a resident expert in them.

I've a big party coming up at the end of the month in nthn NSW. I usually fly & rent a car for these kind of trips. But my XJ6 should have it's new motor installed by then (it's in the shop right now) & I'm very tempted to take it for a bedding in run.
The party's for a very old friend of mine, something of a Mentor even, who's just been diagnosed with terminal cancer, & is throwing the party so we can say goodbye to him. & I know it'd really tickle him to show up to the gig in a Chaufeur driven Jag (I might even get a peaked cap). So that helps justify the three day road trip, there & back. Though with a fresh 4.2 in the snout. Who needs to justify anything!
