Default 77 XJ6 Loom Identification

Hi to all, my problem is this: Near my alternator (350 chev) is a 6 wire harness connector that is on the drivers side (aus). Consists of red, green, orange, brown, purple and black wires. I know purple is alternator, brown and orange go to oil senders, where does the yellow wire go to? and what does it feed? I think it might have originally gone to the +coil side but when i made the mistake of fitting a HEI dizzy (it was a mistake because the tacho wont work with hei) the yellow wire was just left out. I did the right thing and made a very good diagram of my old wiring which i put in a safe place, and that is where it is today, still in a safe place.I am thinking of fitting a Ready to run electronic dizzy with a MEC 1.5ohm coil. I would have to give it a constant 12v so power would come from the ignition switch side of the ballast resistor, but would my tacho read that way?.....sorry for the ramble and i hope this makes sense to someone smarter than me, thanks in advance.......cruza

Some where, you need the original Jaguar wire schematic. Haynes manual would have one. confusing to read, but doable.

The yellow wire probably comes from the ignition switch when the key is in the "crank" position. It went to the starter relay. What method you now have is a mystery???

Why do you need the ballast? Merely a resistor to protect point and condensors, when they were fitted. Coil requires less than the full 12 V??? If so, I'd get a coil that can handle the full 12v.

I think, but am not sure, that in your car as in most, the tach gets it's make and break pulse from the distributor. If so, the tach wire goes to coil -.

My lump took my rescue dog, Coco, and I to market just fine this AM!!!

So much so, that I "palpitated" the method that the "XJ6" badge is
attached to the boot sill. Avast with it, leaving only the shinier 8 over V badge....
