'86 XJ-6 Air Conditioning Rebuild: Compressor Bracketing
Hi, can someone post a quick snap of the belt tensioner arrangement on the old GM A6 compressor, so I can be sure I'm getting it right?
A nice member already posted some pics from the manual, but they did not include the tensioner.
Thanks a bunch! Hoping for cold air soon!

That's exactly what I needed to see; thanks a bunch!
By the way: a "modern replacement" compressor is being offered to replace the GM A6, so I ordered one. If they had sent the one in the illustration, it would have fit fine, but the one I got had a different clutch design, with bolt heads around the circumference which hit the tensioner when it was bolted to the housing at the corner. I sent it back and ordered a rebuilt A6. It was made in China anyway.
Thanks again!

Compressor and Water Pump Replacement Update
Well...
I am getting it back together, and I ran into another problem: when I mount the compressor belt tensioner, the spacer collar at the compressor bracket (which I know came off with the tensioner because I kept them together) is 1/4 inch too long for correct alignment of the tensioner.
The belt on the compressor and engine crank pulleys aligns perfectly, so I know the compressor is in the correct location.
All I can figure is: the spacer was always the wrong one, put there during previous repair work, and I did not notice any misalignment when I removed it.
There is no other spacer anywhere near the correct length, even if I had mixed them up and misplaced one.
If I am doing something wrong, please point it out.
Other than this, my installation appears exactly like the photos above. Fiddly, but I am getting there.
