However, consider that the tach responds to pulses from the - post of the ignition coil. Very rapid as the circuit aka dwell is opened and closed....
Recreate in some fashion? Signal generator? Not any in my shop..
Work around. A long jump wire. One end to the - post on the coil. the other on the - post on the tach. check jaguar schematic S57 for the color... Run the engine. If the tach responds, it is the wire!
make sure the tach has + voltage, as well. Jump it in if not present..
Check S57 for + volts source..
