Aftermarket presence & support for the series 1,2 & 3 XJ chassis
These cars are able to found relitivly easy (sedan model at least) and for a fair price.
But I'm having a hard time finding aftermarket parts for them.
I want to see what is out there that is being made for these cars by other companies that are of a more modern design or better quality porduct than that of what was engineered fron the 60's - 80's
I would have thought I would have found something, but keep finding nothing of interests.

Mostly looking at making a more performance base suspension set up.
SUSPENSION
ride height adjustability
camber plates
higher durometer Suspension bushings (Delron or Duralon)
ajustable endlinks
various spring lengths
various spring load capasity
adjustable dampers
roll bars/ ore sway bars (adjustable)
POWERTRAIN
axles able to endure more torque
Differential able to endure more torque
BRAKES
larger slotted/ perferated (prefer casting over machining/ cross drilling)
more aggeressive pads
In all honesty, I'm just looking to see what is out there for parts (other than OEM)

For rear brake, rear suspension, and differential stuff try inquiring to E-Type specialists. You're more likely to find performance oriented items and amny would work on a Ser I-II-III XJ6.
I think XKs Unlimited has a "high performance" section and perhaps Terry's Jaguar as well

Engine parts are easy to find manufacturers for, until you get into specific short/long block components.
Pistons, rods, ring sets, valves & valve springs, are all able to be changed or sourced by an experienced engine builder.

Not sure yet, I haven't gotten that far yet.
Up front would be pretty standard, but the rear is a whole different story.
I'm looking to pick up another complete rear-end to throw on a bench & try different ideas on.
As of lately, I've been throwing a lot of attention into my FD...

Rear has camber adjustment. It "is not a whole different story", it is a simple design.
Front..it's a double wishbone...come on.
Simple.
If you do not know these BASIC things..research, read, learn. Then ask.
These are some the first things you learn about a car, BEFORE you buy it if you want to do modifications for performance.
Do you know what the timing is supposed to be? Fuel pressure, flow, injector size, MAF size, spark plug heat range, ATF fluid type, rear diff type & gear ratio...you know the simple things.
Sorry if I sound a bit harsh. I just do not want to see a post about you wrapping the car around a tree because you though it was a Ferrari.
Your Jag is not an FD, try not to make it into one....yes I know Rotary's also.

I also stated EARLIER in this thread AND MANY OTHERS, that I will be pulling out the Jaguar powertrain & replacing it with a TOYOTA 2JZ-GTE from an ARISTO.
So you can take your ****ty attitude somewhere else & stop dicking up what was a friendly discussion before you came along
I MEAN TO SOUND HARSH.
On another note, if you would have looked up my previous threads, you will see what cars I have & have had in the past. NONE of them were "wrapped around a tree" because I though they were Ferrari's...
I understand a Jaguar XJC isn't a FD, that's why I chose if for for a drift car. I'm sure you know rotaries, your from the internet, you probably know everything...
P.S. After I I got positive feedback from the community PRIOR to your smug post, I purchased the XJC chassis. Just have to make space for it in the shop.
Once I put the FD back together, the C moves in for modification.
Espresso, try switching to decaf.

How long have you been running those numbers (a long time I guess from your paint scheme , just kidding I love those old school race car
colors)
that is also probably the sweetest looking XJS I have ever seen.
420 in a rotary is a mover, are you on any rx7 forums?
My rotary screen name is PROMETHEUS, look me up!

paint was cool in 1998, kinda dated today. but still turns heads.
im on rx7 club, ronbros.
XJS was done in 1994-1996, little ahead of the curve.
thx and good luck with your projects.

Hey hey guys!!!
I just wanted to pop in & say that I am still working on this project, just in a slightly different capasity than I originally intended to...
I have in my grasp: a 1985 XJ6 that i along with a few others are making a "project" out of.
since all the suspension stuff is compadible between series 2 & 3, you will see some neat stuff that might inspire you to look at these cars in a different light.
and we are going to be playing & pushing the 4.2L XK6 engine to see what its capable of.

The 2JZ is still the end result power platform for my car, but the car that is getting the current attention isnt mine, its belongs to my buddy.
Since the SII & SIII XJ's are suspension compadible, we snagged up a cheap running SIII XJ6 Sedan to do an initial runthrough & mockup build, so we can make all our mistakes on a cheaper, more readily available XJ, then swap everything over to the SII Coupe that I'm "back burnering"
The 4.2L is in such good shape, my friend & I figure "what the hell" so we're going to do some parts development & testing... (just to see what these engines are capable of)
With a compression ratio of 8.0:1, it will be seeing a forced induction test. (stay tuned!!!)
My Rx-7 is coming along very well aslo, but is eating all my money, so I cant start on my Jag. yet...
Ive been working a lot on Toyota Cressidas lately, so its good to be back!

Slight update!
5 speed swap complete (4.2L jag engine to a VQ35 manual transmission)
we dyno'd the car with all the OEM powertrain @ we got our base line...
OEM: 130 RWHP x 190 RWTQ @ 3700 RPM
5 speed conversion: 130 RWHP x 230 RWTQ @ 3700 RPM (40 LB/FT torque increase!)
The problem we're seeing now is that the power curve drops quickly after 3800 rpm.
I'm thinking we're running out of intake flow or Cam. profile.
I've started yanking all the crap off of the car that we plan on replacing. (BE GONE LUCAS WIRING!!!) all new & simplified wiring will be installed.
the intake plenum is huge, but the intake piping is stupid restrictive, so a new manifold will be fabricated (all new design)
The exhaust has got to go, so we can fixture the turbo that we're going to be installing.
Intake & turbo manifold will be worked on, starting next week.
this weekend, I will be focusing on finishing up removal of the old wiring & cleaning out sound deadening from the chassis.
hope everyone is doing well!

5 speed manual in a Jag
I'd love to see some pics/details about that tranny swap. I'm planning to swap my Series 1's BW12 out for a manual but I never really thought about going with a VQ35 manual. How did it fit as far as length/shifter position?
#19
it requires some massaging of the transmission tunnel (mostly on the passenger side, due to the starter motor)
Pictures will be available in the future, but not until the car has been tested & we are ready to post up the parts for sale. (there will be a kit available soon, so hold off on your swap, unless you're dead set on doing everything yourself)
we're also going to be doing a complete suspension reconfiguration, so stay tuned for all that business.
