The hardest thing to find now is a usable lower grille. I got one from England that required a ton of refurbishment but was straight. I ended up buying a gorgeous one already done from Jeremy and then sending him the one I bought from England. He also sold me the turn signals but those are current Lucas repro parts so I believe are widely available. Andrew at Jaguar Specialties is shipping the first batch of his repro hinges so talk to him on those. I believe he also is able to offer a discount on the stainless bumpers when buying a set of hinges.

Do we really need a Lower Valance ? It appears that the lower grille actually lies forward of the valance.

Andrew requires a $200 Core Charge on the hinges and the old American hinges must be returned in 90 days or you forfeit your $200. Going into winter here, I wasn't sure I could hold to the 90 days.

Default Hinges and bumper bits....

Commercial Disclaimer- this post has been made purely for technical information and not as a solicitation to sell anything.

Hello all-

Yes, this is all true- we are now offering a European bumper installation kit for Series 2 (and Series 3 !!!) XJ6 and XJ12 models. I was actually planing to launch a separate thread to announce that shortly, but adding on here is no issue as well. Our hinges/mounts are reworks of US spec pieces to then have the correct mounting/hinge points for the Euro bumpers and the hood (a good straight set of US spec pieces to start with is key- not bent, rusted, repaired etc.,.) The kit also includes the special hardware needed for the rear bumper installation. And of course there are instructions. The customer provides the bumper set itself. We have had very good results using the Harrington company repro stainless pieces and the OE Jag parts will work as well. (and also yes, we have negotiated an additional discount for our customers with Harrington, where they would buy direct at a lower price, but only after first becoming our customer for the hinges/mounts). We have no experience with the other Vietnamese bumper supplier- we've never seen a set so can't comment and make no guarantees as to how they would work with our parts

Our hinge pieces are assembled on specially made jigs designed specifically to ensure the correct hinge point location and correct bumper mount points. No other company anywhere has taken this project on and since we are using a US pieces as the foundation, the supply of our parts for enthusiasts would be essentially limitless.

The complete mount kit is $975/exchange which is less than half the cost of the only other new part option out there (currently about $2k for the front pieces alone), and also less than the other new/used supplier as well. As long as the customers original hinges are good. unbent, and not rusted out, they are good cores. And like any other supplier, cores are due back in a reasonable time frame and 90 days is most generous in this industry. The core charge is $200, paid up front unless a customer provides his hinges up front. Cores are examined to make sure they have not been damaged and/or repaired and then either accepted or rejected. Some of these cars are still straight and have never been damaged, but many have seen their share of knocks, especially up front. Enough said.

Attached are pics of our 1975 XJ6C project car with front and rear bumpers installed. Also attached is a pic of a Series 3 XJ6 with a Euro front bumper in place- a rear would work as well.

And to answer a question ahead of the game, due to the proprietary nature of the design, and as typical in this industry, we do not offer any pics of the individual pieces themselves- sorry. There are just too many unscrupulous "enthusiasts" out there who would without a second thought try and copy rather than support a dedicated supplier. This is, after all, a business for us and a year + of tinkering and hood slamming went into it....

I hope that helps.. To continue the conversation a new thread may be best- this one dates back way to far....

Default Vietnam Source

If you look up XJ6 Euro Bumpers on eBay, the Vietnamese source will be there.[QUOTE=icsamerica;1401702]Not really,

FRONT: You'd need many new items... hood hinges and the Series 1 ('68) hood, fenders, lower valiance and bumper location are all different on the series 2 ('76)

REAR: You'd need to cut off the rear bumper shock recievers and weld on a stud. Not really a big deal. How ever series 1 bumper has a upward facing lamp to illuminate the license place. Series 2 has the lamp in the trunk finisher.

I've done a euro conversion on my coupe, you need Series 2 bumpers, series 2 euro hood hinges, series 2 Euro lower grill and valiance. Series 2 Euro bumpers are reproduced by a company in Vietnam, they ship'em right to you in a big box. The same one's can be found on Ebay, but cheaper if you lookup the company and call Vietnam

Jeremy is a great help, but the cost of the LH is high enough that the hinges cost as much as the bumpers. The hinges need clean up & paint but are in good shape. Jag Specialties hinges are built from scratch, still expensive.

Packaging was excellent. Did not unwrap it all but my take is that the quality of the finish is superb. Of course they are 304 SS not plated. Backsides are coated. Mounting plates installed & holes drilled, hardware supplied. Only concern would be if it is all in the right locations. The rubber overrider pieces I have require drilling 3 holes in the overrider. The center is already taked up by the overrider attch bolt. The othe two are offset and should work .

Default Attach Point Photos ?

Would be helpful to see photos of actual front & rear attach point mods ready for installation.

Regarding therear bumper conversion. Found this on the Jag Lovers forum:
Great photos ! Saw a note in another posting saying he used 5/8" vs 3/8" threaded rod.
Rear bumper Euro conversion - XJ - Jag-lovers Forums

All this is of great help if you have already gathered all the parts. If your just starting out, contact Andrew at Jag Specialties 408-839-5569 Jaguar Specialties
and /or Jeremy at Paul's Jaguar 561-367-0525 and they will set you up with what you need.
