Default Another Bumper Question

I looked through a bunch of images, but with a lot of these being cars of Euro spec I still am not sure.

Are there different variations of bumpers on the US specification Series 2 cars? Just wondering if the earlier cars had sleeker bumpers than the later bumpers.

From all I have seen every S2 with a "UH" prefix in the S/N is a North American model and will have Rubber Bumpers. The variations you see are most likely the result of either full or partial Euro Conversions covered extensively in this forum. This is what Euro Bumpers look like.

These are from what I see, partial conversions.

I was asking as I just acquired a series 2 coupe that is missing its front bumper and I have a series 3 parts car that has a good front bumper. To get the car on the road legally I was wondering if the series 3 front bumper would fit on the series 2 car. Eventually I will probably convert to Euro bumpers.

I've seen Series II cars with Series III bumpers....so I'm sure it can be done. How much effort is involved, I dunno. I seriously doubt that it's a direct bolt-on swap

Cheers

Default Bumpers

Both Jaguar Specialties & Pauls Jaguar can answer your questions. A big stumbling block in these things can be the fact that the hood hinge assemblies, which the bumpers mount to, are different & must be replaced. Labor intensive, expensive, especially LH. Lots of info & pics available on this forum.

Default Hood Hinges

There is a part listed on eBay as a LH S1 S2 Hood Hinge for $55. It is NOT a hinge "assembly" which is what you need to mount Euro bumpers. It's just a part. Beware !

I am hoping with just picking up a 1972 Series 1 parts car with the steel bumpers, hood, and fenders that I should have everything, including the frame sections, I would need to make the swap from a 1977 Series 2 Coupe to a 1977 Coupe with a Series 1 hood, grill, fenders and slim metal bumpers.
