Hi all

The Flemish MOT says that the VIN number in my Series 2 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 saloon from 1978 is not genuine (see picture). And so they won't give me a green card. Any one has a Series 2 and how does your VIN number look like?

FYI: my car has a full exterior restauration with repaint in original color.

Thanks, we already did this. I sent the certificate to MOT, but that does not solve the issue. They don't claim that the car does not exist, they claim that the vin stamp might not be original. Ridiculous, I know.

 

The VIN is also stamped in areas around the car, which may convince them.

Behind the rear bumper, on the body, there's a tag, and under the hood where the hood shuts at the rear edge there's one too.

There may be other; consult a manual.

There wasn't a photo in your post to look at the VIN plate. The originals were not perfectly stamped, I think it was done by hand.

My other sarcastic thought was "They are experts in 50 year old Jaguars?"
