Slots..
Geday Fraser,
Still a tad confused on the whole "slotted" thingy...so the slots i have on the top of the block are irrelevant, and are not to slots to which you r referring ?. i have inspected the block face & run a big flat new fine file across top to remove any high spots & it looks very clean & free of ..from what i can see, any defects as such. Your picture shows slots in the "block" with liner/sleeve removed..i assume these are the slots in question, in that case how would you identify a slotted block with liners still installed? Thanks for your reply, big learning curve for me these engines, i am quite literate with Chev v8, holden sixes etc as have rebuilt many & all have performed very well, knowledge is power as they say so i'm thirsty for info on these interesting pieces of iron..regards again..Pete.

Core Plugs
In regards to block core plugs, are they an easily obtained part, as in the diameter of the plug used in other engines etc.. need 11-12. If they are a standard type size i may save a few dollars perhaps in buying them as a separate item instead of paying for a genuine jag set. Does anyone know the actual dimensions of these little buggers Thanks again Chaps.

Side Tracked..
Well guys its been a while since last post... wife has got me painting interior of the house, so bit of time out on my other baby. Managed to spend couple hours last Sunday... all cylinders hones out 220 grit, another wash with the gerney. 020 piston rings finally turned up (Holden 202), fit like a glove. Piston skirts decarboned & crowns wire wheeled smooth and free of all carbon deposits, now ready for ringing. Crank to get the gerney treatment & then reinstalled. Well at least we have some progress...more to follow, pics etc..cheers all.

Going the conversion - with a difference.
Been sometime since any works been done on the car...hot spell over here..too hot to work..i figure thats a good enough reason to be lazy..but have actually done a few hours in the shed & progressed on the body ready for later paint. Decided not to go the original 6... i need the song of 8 cyl's...so i'm installing some homegrown classic iron...253 v8 & trimatic. The engine will be rebuilt with increased comp. & torque being the primary objective. Trimatic also rebuilt w/custom torque converter. Havent seen this done before (308 maybe), but not a 253 (4.2 - same as jag engine). Nice chambered exh system to suit & nice lowering job (as not to effect to much on ride quality)& some 19"s, she should look & sound the goods. few pics again.. the journey continues..
