Black headliner?

Black headliner?
Any thoughts on a black headliner?
The light beige (Doeskin) headliner on my 1985 XJ6 VDP needs replaced. I was thinking about getting the headliner and all of the moonroof trim done in black. This would match the black dashpad, black door panel toppers, black rear shelf, and black plastic pieces that go up the posts between the windows (where the front loop around, etc.) Anybody have experience with this? I think it would look good, but I'm afraid it would darken the interior a little too much.

Color is a very personal thing. Black on black cars are very attractive to me. One of my past favorites was 65 Corvair Monza coupe. all lack outside, black interior. I don't recall the head liner color. probably dark if not black. OTH, way back, a local auto parts house guru had a three window 36 ford couple. Great black outwards. All black tuck and roll inside. Too dense, guys with claustrophobia could not drive or even ride in that car. Later it got T boned, bad. It looked like the end! but, some magicians across the border fixed it, as good or better than ever.
I would thin a dark grey might be more pleasing as to the head liner with all else in black. Just a tad of relief.
Paying bills this morning. Fighting the web sites and my other machine. Ugh!

Thanks for the opinions guys.
I spent a little more time taking in the interior today, and I think I am going to go with a black headliner. My seats and door panels are a very light tan (Doeskin) and my carpet is also pretty light as well. All of the black on the interior starts at the height of the dash and goes up. Curiously, the only thing above the dash that is not black is the headliner.
With that being said, is this a DIY job that gets professional-looking results, or should I farm it out? I've never done a headliner before. Off to youTube...

I tried this on a 1975 XJ6. Not successful - too gloomy for me - so I reverted to beige. It's a difficult and messy job if you have to glue directly to the roof (having first glued the material to a suitable "pad"). Earlier Jags came with a "biscuit", a fibre board to which the material could be glued and the whole thing then fitted into position. Not sure about later models. Either way, use a high temp adhesive - I used Fastfix Ultra High 120 celcius.
